Congratulations to the Northstar Track Team for successfully advancing all the way to the state finals held at Baylor! Northstar competed against many schools in the 4x400 and 1600 meter races and can be proud of the achievements made. In the first year of competition the track team has surpassed numerous personal and team goals. The team will continue to train to become even more competitive for the 2009-2010 school year.

 

March 2009

On Saturday, at the district finals at Northlake Community College, Northstar took home the second place trophy! All of our Gator competitors performed in a fantastic manner. The team will now move onto state competition to be held at Texas A&M! 

 

February 2009

Northstar's 4-H club took home awards galore!!!   Jillian Bradley took the 1st place in sculpture entries, and others who won trophies and ribbons in rabbit showing were --  Austin Ploetz, Tyler Knickerbocker, Emily Inglis, Kellie Hunn, Dayton Hunn, Tyler Tidwell, Tim Clifford, and Nicole Ploetz.  All of our Northstar students competed against each other during the Rabbit Showmanship competition, and Tim Clifford's hard work and extra practice paid off because he excelled during the competition and brought home the coveted Rabbit Showmanship belt buckle.  Congratulations GATORS!!!!!  What a GREAT show!!

 

November 2008

The Northstar Volleyball team took on their opponents on Saturday, November 1st with the greatest display of teamwork ever.  Every team member took part in great serving, excellent volleying, and saves. A few fingers, hands, and noses took a beating, but the team did not let that stop them. 

The Northstar Cross Country team was awesome on Sunday afternoon, November 2 at Randol Mill Park.  They competed against Rockwall, Elite, and Grace Prep and made Northstar proud.

 

Septermber 2008

A group of Northstar fiddlers under the direction of Sherry McKenzie performed for the Encore Club of Arlington.  The performance was rated awesome!!!  The Northstar group received several requests for bookings from members of the Encore group.  Thank you for making Northstar proud!!

 

April 2008

On April 5th Northstar students and friends participated in Arlington's Litter Day campaign by cleaning the creek areas and grounds of Northstar School and Children's University.  Friends from Oakridge and Children's University helped Northstar students as they bagged 17 bags of trash.  Thanks to the leadership of volunteer Northstar parents and the hard work of all the students involved,  Northstar place 3rd in the City of Arlington's citywide competition!!!

On April 10th Kevin Selle, meteorologist at the cable network TXCN, gave a presentation to the Northstar students on weather phenomena and meteorologic vocabulary.  Thank you to Dr. Liping Tang from UTA for organizing the presentation for Northstar.  Dr. Tang's son Ewin is a 7th grade student at Northstar.

March 2008

Grand ReserveMembers of the Northstar 4-H club participated in the Tarrant County Junior Livestock show on March 7th & 8th. They showed 9 rabbits in four different breed categories. Northstar students received numerous best of breed awards and a Grand Reserve Championship trophy and belt buckle.



Northstar School participated in the regional Science Olympiad Competition at Northlake College on March 29th. Student teams competed in 15 events that tested their knowledge of various science disciplines. The individual student teams received medals in 9 events and took the 3rd place overall team trophy. Northstar School will be attending the state competition at Texas A&M University on April 25th and 26th.

November 2007

As a part of the Physical Education program, Northstar School is participating in the First Tee program sponsored by the United States Golf Association. Students learn the rules of the game and get to play at local courses. FORE!!!

Our students spent two days this week at Camp Carter, a YMCA facility in northwest Fort Worth. Our 7th, 8th, and 9th graders participated in various outdoor activities and teambuilding exercises and all had a great time.

Our teachers have started gearing up for Science Olympiad. Stay tuned....

Cheer on the Gators!! The Northstar School cheer squad has begun practice and is gearing up for a future competition.

September 2007

Northstar School has started a new school year with three classes (7th, 8th, and 9th grades) and 24 students. 9th grade students will be taking Chinese as a foreign language, in addition to Latin classes.

Northstar is pleased to welcome Dr. Wayne Clifford to the teaching staff. Dr. Clifford brings years of experince and his PhD to Northstar to teach general science and computer science.

Northstar School had a great ending to a great first year. Our seventh graders did fantastic, and the faculty and staff are looking forward to another terrific year with two more grades.

April 30, 2007

The Northstar School Science Olympiad team returned from College Station without any medals, but with a lot of experience. The team performed great in all events, scoring as high as 6th place among over 30 teams. Way to go!!

Northstar Science Olympiad Team

The students of Northstar School participated in the UT Dallas Regional competition of the Texas Science Olympiad and placed 2nd, qualifying for the State competition taking place April 27-28 at Texas A&M University. Go Navigators!!

Anatomy class

Northstar students work with Sara Beall, DVM during anatomy class. Among the projects Dr. Beall assisted with was the dissection of a cow heart and kindney and a sheep eyeball. The students learned about the structure and function of these organs, as well as their roles in the various body systems.
